Frank Nelson

I qualified as a Chartered Accountant and my first job was as Chief Accountant to a Shipping Line in London before the company moved to Liverpool.

In 1954 I bought an Accountancy practice in Barnard Castle, from which I retired thirty years ago.

Since retiring I spent over 21 years as Treasurer, then Chairman and then back to Treasurer of “Abbeyfield” old people’s nursing home in Barnard Castle.

Since retiring I also was Treasurer at Darlington Rugby Union Football Club for twenty years and later Treasurer at Barnard Castle Rugby Union Football Club for three years and am now the Secretary & Membership Secretary for the local rugby club.

Since retiring I was also Treasurer at the Barnard Castle Golf Club for six years, prior to becoming the Captain of the Club in 2005.

I have been Treasurer/Secretary for our Probus Club, prior to being Chairman, and now back as Treasurer/Secretary again.
