Stephen Brenkley is the retired cricket correspondent of the Independent and “I” newspapers. As a young journalist he was also wicket keeper for Barnard Cricket club. Returning to the town and as president of the club, he has turned his journalist skills, to writing a history of the club since 1832 to current times “Small town, Big hopes”, reflecting on the characters, teams and the community over past 186 years.
